Thanks to George Sousa for reminding me to mention this very important connection ... For those not familiar, Systems Engineering is a very large and influential professional field, it is an interdisciplinary approach and means to enable the realization of successful systems [of many diverse kinds!]. It focuses on defining customer needs and required functionality early in the development cycle, documenting requirements, then proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while considering the complete problem. See more at the professional body INCOSE. Members of the profession are trained in and deploy a wide range of system-related methods, and some are familiar with system dynamics [our underlying science]. George and I believe that the methods and models in this course may offer Systems Engineers a powerful and practical approach for doing something that they currently struggle with - creating a working, quantified simulation of any enterprise, function or issue they are trying to design, understand or improve. Watch out for more on this ...
